Aren't they great? You should see the stuff that Dar just did. It was drying, so I didn't get a picture of it. I think the colors look like a peacock feather, but others say it reminds them of Santa Fe or the beach. I'll try to get a picture of it.
So pretty! I love hand painted yarns (I wound up with a bunch of fleece artist stuff on boxing day - nova scotia artists) and would also love to learn how to do that.
Sorry I've been so silent, I'm still having a really hard time with school and anxiety, I was hoping to arrange a visit while home for the holidays, but I got into a rather bad funk and a lot of things I had hoped to do didn't happen.
I also wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten the knitting... I have a shawl for deb from the ends she gave me last visit:
I created the ombre effect by knitting two strands together and changing one colour at a time, which is a useful when you are using 100 yrd ends. It's the Northern Lights shawl founds here: http://muro.vuodatus.net/blog/881297
I also knit the dipped infinity scarf out of the 100 yrd samples of fingering yarn from the Poots:
The pattern is: http://www.cosmicpluto.com/blog/dipped-infinity-scarf/ and Laura, the designer would be open to kits. I love the way it shows off the different natural alpaca colours. I kept note of how much of each yarn it took, so if you want those amounts just let me know.
Then, for me, I knit this islandic lace (anacronistic with alpaca, but it's so pretty):
It's a pattern from the magazine pieceworks, (here: http://www.knittingdaily.com/media/p/13991.aspx ), and it may have given me some ideas to do a pattern of my own (for you guys) based on it (though that's probably several months away, cause shawls take a while)...
And I'm trying my first propper two-colour knitting as well: (http://photobucket.com)
You can see more pictures of these here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v228/NSPsAbroad/knitting/yarn%20from%20the%20farm/
I'm going to try to see sf, so maybe she can get these up to you before I could. All my love to you all at the farm.
Babykins, I'm sorry that you're having a rough time of it. Is there anything I can do? And you know you are always welcome, no matter how you're feeling or where your headspace is.
I showed the pics to Deb and Dar, and they both loved all of them. What's not to love? You are scary good at this, chica :) (My favorite is the infinity scarf; it's so beautiful.)
That two-color pattern is gorgeous. What's that going to be?
So yes, you're a star in our personal alpaca arts firmament! Thank you so much for doing this!
Thanks mamakins! Love you. Things are slowly getting better... I don't know if there's anything anyone can do, but just knowing that I have your support does do wonders. During the worst of it (wanting to quit so badly because I just couldn't get things done) I entertained running away to the farm to knit my days away as a viable alternative, which did help to some degree... depending on how things pan out, I may be able to come for a longer visit this spring/summer...
The knitting does help - being good at something, I mean. I'm glad you guys like, and I'm so glad I can do something for you guys. If I didn't have knitting I think the depression would have been worse (ie, at least I can do something productive with my time)...
Mittens! these ones, in fact: http://heddaknits.blogspot.com/2010/08/time-for-mitt-along.html So soft - such a treat for the hands!
