We're inundated with these birds. Unfortunately by the time I got my camera, they were only visible in silhouette. We think they're some kind of thrush.

That's about it for autumn in our area. Very little color and a lot of leaf loss already.
What a shame. I think it's been too rainy to bring out the vibrant fall colors.

Starlings have longer tails, don't they?

If it sounds like a jungle when they're around, then it's starlings. *L*

I have several bird reference books, and they're not showing we have here. They could be starlings if starlings turn white and brown for their winter coloring, because these guys are white-chested with big brown spots and brown feathers on top.

You're right; these are starlings. But we also had about dozenbirds right outside our window who had that intense spotting on white chests. I don't know - maybe it's because they were all puffed up so the white showed more. I really wish that I'd had my camera nearby when they all showed up. But thanks for lightening the pic like that!

Love the thrush (?) picture. And omg, really? You've already lost all those leaves? We're just starting! Hope winter's gentle on you.

The TV is loaded with winter advertising already. We had our first hard frost last night. It's time to get out the winter clothing, although I hate to say it.

Definitely starlings. You can just barely see the spots on the farthest right one. Google them and you'll see.

This is the closest I could find. It's a young starling.

The coloring is certainly right on, but these are bigger. And would there be young starlings in mid-October? It's why we're so confused. I need to look at my books again.
