We had another shearing day today at another of our friend's farms. Dee and her family raise huacaya alpacas; we had 16 of the little (and big) fuzzballs to shear today. It all went pretty smoothly once they got the electricity problem sorted out, and the weather was much better today than last Saturday. But the big joy of the day for me was the fact that they have a buttload of different animals on their farm. So what follows is

Some of the huacayas awaiting shearing.

Ivory and Ebony, the guard llamas for the sheep.

Ivory looking very regal as llamas are wont to do.

Their three horses off on a hilly pasture.

A very hungry and headless sheep.

A lone, lovely black and white lamb.

Hello, baby!

Mama and baby.

Three lambies.

2009-05-19 12:19 (UTC)I've always said I wanted a small farm, but I'd given up on the idea, knowing it's hard work and not sure I could handle it in retirement. You're renewing that dream for me. To spend time with cute folks like these? Aww.
