Wow, it just really hit me that it's closing in on Thanksgiving Day for my fellow Yanks down there in Yankistan. For all of you who are hitting the road today, you guys drive safe, hear me? Do not make me pull this car over and come back there and set you straight.

I really, really, really loved Thanksgiving in the States, and yet I can say that this is the first year where I'm not getting a big ol' pang of jealousy and nostalgia about not being there. I think I've grown :) OK, I'll admit that I definitely did not miss the apocalyptic, homicidal rage inducing traffic jams, and in the latter years I rarely braved the apocalyptic, homicidal rage inducing traffic jams to go visit my family in CT, but still . . . I loved the holiday. I would either go to [livejournal.com profile] malterre's place or more usually stay home and have my friend [livejournal.com profile] minimaxx over for a quiet, simple dinner. It was the tradition behind it, I think, that I found so attractive. I loved the idea that on that day, 99% of the country was engaged in the same sorts of activities: travel, making and eating of vast quantities of yummy food, gathering together, and, of course, the devouring of the pies. In our family it was all capped by a walk around the neighborhood (weather permitting) to work off all of that food. What's not to love?

So . . . for those of you on your way tomorrow, allow me to wish you now a most wonderful Thanksgiving. May the meats be moist and the pies be flaky and the Traffic Gods benevolent.

Gobble, gobble, guys :)

The traffic joy started last night. I got on 128 in Needham and off in Waltham and it took me just over two hours.

May all the traffic gods be nevolent. hehehe.

Don't blame me, I'm wicked sleep deprived...sitting in an airport in Pittsburgh, PA after a naked prodding/poking/pinching appointment with my plastic surgeon. I have one more surgery...January 11. then I'm done. DONE, DONE, DONE. This time I only have to stay one night in the hospital and 5 nights in the hotel, so at least it won't be as tedious as past surgeries.

It's times like this when I wonder why I care so much what I look like...it's not like anybody ever sees.

Bless you and yours.

I'm rambling.

It's one of the "things nobody knows about travestine" that I've always wanted to experience a real, honest to goodness American Thanksgiving. I love our Canadian Thanksgivings, but I've always been fascinated by the American holiday - seems like it's actually a bigger deal than Christmas - true?

Heh, it certainly seems to be bigger than Christmas, but it isn't really - although it runs a very close second. It's the only guaranteed four-day weekend from work/school, so it's the big travel holiday, and that's the attraction of Thanksgiving: it's a huge family get-together time. It's also the official beginning of the Christmas season, so it has that aura of excitement (or dread) about it. Yeah, the Canadian Thanksgiving is very low-key in comparison.
