maystone: (Not bitter by kayleyangel)
[personal profile] maystone
It snowed like a son of a bitch this morning; what with the wind, it ended up drifting and I ended up shoveling a bit. The storm moved through quickly and the temps rose a bit, so now the roads are mostly wet or slushy, although the skies are that awful glaring, depressing gray that hurts to look at.

Like the lady said: "Someone needs to shoot that groundhog."

Dar is sick, so that's never good news. She started feeling poorly yesterday, and it really hit her today. She insisted on doing the alpacas this morning, and she's been abed every since. Stubborn, stubborn woman.

My sinus infection seems to be coming under control; I no longer feel as if I'm going to drown from the steady river of crap draining from my sinuses and down my throat. It was doing no great favors to my asthma, either, but I'm very happy to be able to say that that finally seems to be settling down as well. At the worst of the sinus infection, I had to take some ventilin, but that was Saturday morning. I haven't had to use it since then. ::vigorous knocking of wood ensues::

I took myself to the mall earlier today and got my hairs cut off. The stylist and I had my usual communication issues, and I left with something other than what I wanted but with the potential to grow out to what I was hoping it would be. Dar really likes it; I'm going to have to wait a week or so. I don't hate it (well, except for the short bangs), and I think it'll settle down pretty quickly.

My hair color is intersting now. He cut enough off so that almost all of the color from my various dye jobs is gone. Any that is left is right on the tips, so that means that most of it is my true color. And that is . . . kind of a rose gray, I guess. I have loads of silver in my hair now, but the strands are so fine that it doesn't look gray except around the temples. There? I am the Bride of Frankenstein :) But other wise, it's kind of a muted red. Ashes of Roses, I believe is the color I've seen attached to it. As I said, interesting.

The reason I broke down and spent the money on this is because I'm going to a job fair tomorrow. Yay! The jobs are being offered at the Independent Living Residences for the Deafblind in Ontario; this is a new program in the area, and they're looking for team leaders and "intervenors" - and they're willing to train. I've already had experience in this field; it was many years ago, but I think I'm still ahead of the game as far the local application pool goes. The biggest stumbling block is that my current work visa prohibits me from working outside of my current job, but I hope to convince them to a) hire me as a contractor through the Longshadow Group which will mean that they can circumvent the visa problem or b) hire me in September when my unrestricted work visa takes effect or c) see if there's some sort of dispensation available that I'm not aware of since they're desperate for qualified people. Whichever, wish me luck with it, please.

And now, I'm off to wrangle some alpacas.
