Last night before I went to bed I posted this: And we're trying not to think about the small lake that our back yard will become.

This morning I woke up to this:

Day 73 - Backyard Lake

This was at 7AM. Now keep in mind that everything you see there was completely snow covered 8 hours before. I didn't go out to the barn this morning because I had to leave for a doctor's appointment, but Dar said it took forever for her to find a way around the deep water and the still-deep-in-spots snow.

Bigger Backyard Lake and Fog

This was at 2PM. Yeah, major fog going on in our area. We had to drive into Waterloo, and it took twice as long as usual because we had to crawl along the roads Very thick, very dense fogginess. Anyway, you can see how much more of the yard has turned to water by checking out the picnic table in both pictures. We're kind of agog at the possibilities of what's going to be out there by 6PM

And to top it off, the basement is, while not flooded, very wet. We were warned this would happen because of the huge snow pack and the extreme amount of melting going on in such a short time. We braved the fog to go buy a wet vac, because this is only going to get worse. Spring!

ETA: The funny thing is, that snow-covered circle over to the left? It's the pond. Still frozen. Bwah!

It is to laugh :) It's a pretty deep pond, and we've had like Ice Age cold temps, so I can understand while it will take a long time to completely thaw, but really . . . let's not get insulting about it. Heh.
