[livejournal.com profile] darlong wanted to take these to give some perspective to the amount of snow we've had. So I bring you . . .

At least the sun came out.
Find mays :)

Waiting for spring.
Yup, dejection dripping from every angle of that body language.

They changed the forecast from snow to just flurries with light winds (relatively speaking). And next week it might even get above freezing.

Just to show that it isn't just me being all pissy about the weather: I was in the Elmira pet store this morning getting some cat food; a group of women were at the cash register grousing about the weather when I joined them.

Cashier: We have to hold out until spring, that's all.
Me: And just when do you figure that will get here?
Cashier: (pause, then pissed) Someone needs to shoot that groundhog.

Hee! Don't lie to the Elmira lady, False Groundhog of Early Spring!

So, um...have y'all heard of New Mexico? Lots of land, hardly any snow ~or rain~to speak of...winds in spring and summer (but only annoying to those who are wusses)...

I need neighbors. ;)

Hey, I would love to relocate us to a warmer clime in the States, but Dar won't leave. If she won't, then I won't.

I used to live in the AZ desert, btw. I don't think the alpacas could survive heat like that; they're actually better off in colder weather. I'm the one who can't stand it :)

It was pretty funny, especially since she was this very well-dressed grandmotherly type.

*patpatpat*

I hope you're wearing a hat there, missy.

Very funny, you two :) As it happened, I was not wearing a hat, but that's unusual. It was the first day in weeks that we had sunshine, and everything seemed to be much warmer than it was. Which was -22F at that time. But I was wearing my non-alien face hugger, because I was trying to prevent another asthma thingie. So far so good on that score, so yay!

FYI, I have a hat very similar to Jayne's, just not orange. Or pom-pommy. Mine is brown - and it has braids. ::sigh:: What winter reduces us to.

Yeah, our front yard looks about the same...

And freakin' cold this week! Then they tell us it's going to be in the 40s (F) by the weekend.

C'm here, Phil, the nice lady from Canada wants to talk to you...

Yeah, I figured you were having a bad winter, too. I'll believe those temps when I see them; they've been taunting us with that for weeks now, but it never materializes.

You know, Mothie, you've lived in crappy winter places for years now; you must be so ready to just head out to Florida or someplace like that.

What, three years in North Dakota, and (ye gods) 26 here? Actually, this is the worst winter in a while, the past few have been relatively mild. Technically Rome's not really in the snow belt, not like Syracuse and Oswego and other places. But I have no desire to head to Florida ever.

That snow will be gone in what...August?
Okay, I am not so jealous of Canada now.

It's been Suck City, let me tell you. The locals have been telling me that it's the worst winter in the past 13 years, so I'm hoping it'll be another 13 before I have to do this again.

As to the snow, I expect it'll be around until May. I'm serious.

And hey - glad you're back safe and sound and that everything went so well! I read, I just didn't comment yet :)

Funny you should say that...up in Oswego, where they had 11 feet of snow? Well, they have a 50 ft+ "snow mountain" where they pile all the snow removed from roads and parking lots. Based on previous years, they figure it will take to August for it all to melt...

The groundhog is in PA....what does he know of Canada weather ;>

Ah, but Canada has several weather forecasting groundhogs of their own, including one right here in Ontario.

They all lie. Lie, lie, lie.
