Our friend greets Satine's new baby girl.

A few more baby pics )

The baby has very long legs, but because she' premature she's not really good at using them yet; they still need to firm up a little. Still, she does pretty well once you lift her up and leave her on her own.

I think she may be a Valentino baby rather than a Hannibal baby. She's a lot lighter than Hanni's other girls. We'll get her DNA tested for paternity (which you have to do to register them anyway.) She's not out of the woods yet, so think good healthy cria thoughts :)

Little Echo died. Everyone thought she was going to make it, including the vets. Her heart rate was up, her temp was way up. They were getting the warm IV ready, and her heart just stopped. They tried compressions and two epi shots to the heart, but she was gone. Poor little girl. She was just five months old.

Thanks for the your good wishes, guys. We still have Satine's baby to see to. We were just over there while Dar milked Satine and then syringed the milk into the baby's mouth. She's so beautiful - and very tall. Because she's a premie, she's having difficulty with her legs, but she can stand and walk around if you help her up. She's bright-eyed and curious, and Satine is out of her mind with the urge to protect her. Which makes milking mom a bit of a problem.

So we still need lots of good wishes, if you have them. I'll let you know how things go.

Dar and Deb found little Echo near death, frozen, this morning in the barn. No idea why. We've had her in the bathtub trying to warm her up. Her temp won't even register on the thermometer. Vet is on the way.
