This really fits for someone with a chronic illness. It wears you down, saps your resiliency, makes you feel trapped and helpless and unable to cope. It's not really who you are, it's who the illness causes you to be. I sympathize and empathize. I, too, have a chronic, debilitating illness, and these answers describe me very well. You are fortunate to be surrounded by people (and animals) that care and are supportive. Don't give in, don't give up. There is good in everything and every day.
