1. Do you know what happens when Dar goes to our friends' mill "just for a minute"? One of their alpacas suddenly goes into labor and it turns out to be a difficult birth. She pulled another stuck cria out of another in distress mom. Beautiful cria girl! I mean all baby alpacas are cute, but this one is gorgeous. And big. And very strong. She was up and walking within minutes of being born - it's usually about an hour before they can get their legs under them. Dar went back there a couple of hours ago to check on everyone. Not sure what's up with that.
2. I was putting dishes away when a very large, heavy thermos bottle fell off the highest shelf and the quite hard, reinforced bottom edge slammed into my mouth right below my nose line. Hurt like hell, and I can hardly wait to see what this is going to look like tomorrow morning.
3. Tomorrow also brings a nuclear scan of my kidneys at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener. I'll get shot up with a little bit of radium, wait for an hour, and then they'll scan my kidney. The scan will be used to guide the technician when I have my kidney biopsy done later this month.
4. This is the third nuclear scan I've had done within the past year. My insides must be glowing like the Vegas strip.
5. I finally got to see the blood work results that the nephrologist ordered. Among the surprises were such things as multi-colored blood cells (groovy!), urine in my blood (ewwww), and my favorite - GIANT platelets. Run awayyyyy! There's other stuff but none of it quite as bizarrely amusing. For the moment, anyway. This probably means that I'll have to add a hematologist to the mix, and, unfortunately, there could be a bone marrow extraction in my future. You know, this Maystone: International Woman of (Medical) Mystery schtick is getting a little old. My hope is that these new results will provide some clarification as well as the usual confusion.
