Not that I know what a fog horn looks like. It's part of a light house, right? When I think fog horn, I see light house. I think, therefore I see, therefore ipso sid loquitor bite me emptor res oink. (Pig Latin non sequitor. I rule!)
Strange days. Fogged out brain. The Girls are gone to Toronto.
sffan fell down one of the flight of stairs here and busted her butt bone. Hopefully not truly busted but pained herself greatly. She's going to check in with her doctor back in Toronto, and the rest of the crew left with her. The cats are all wandering around wondering where everyone went. I hear you, cats.
I didn't really visit all that much. I think it's the meds, but I've become pretty sensitive to light and noise, so I spent a lot of time in my room, or at least it seems that way. Bad me! Bad! Because I did want to visit. I did a lot of cat wrangling, though. I have bonded with Pico, who I believe I've mentioned as being Pixel on steroids. Biiig cat, but also very sweet cat.
This is all over the place, isn't it?
The latest news is that I went to see a surgeon today about my gall bladder and ( I'll cut for the TMI-sensitive ). He's scheduling both a colonoscopy (this is like my fourth one!), and he said that my gall bladder definitely has to come out. Here's where it gets interesting in the Chinese curse sense: because of the past gastric bypass surgery, they may not be able to remove it by laparoscopy. There may be too much scar tissue, and they'll have to do the old-fashioned, slit-me-open, pull-up-the-rib-cage procedure. AND they won't know until they actually get in there, so I won't know until I come out of anaesthesia whether I'll be going home that afternoon or stuck in the hospital for 5 days followed by a six-week recovery period. Of course that's also not taking into account what's going on with the lupus and the meds and the possible blood thinners and how I have to run all of this by the new rheumatologist when I see her next week. Not that there's any way around having the surgery. This is going to get verra interesting.
Mark's parents are going back to Ireland tomorrow. Woe! Yesterday I took them out for a day of shopping and errand running and a quick dentist visit; much fun was had, really. They're delightful people, and having had divorced parents, I just really love the fact that as a married couple these two still really like each other. I mean they giggle at each other. They're such fun to be around. Leo had another late-day dentist appointment today, but because my night vision pretty much doesn't exist these days, I drove them in and then Mark drove them back when he got of work. At least we got to have one last sing-along to the oldies radio station on the way there.
I know I had something I wanted to tell y'all, but I just can't remember it. There was a lot of that going on with the doctor this morning. "When did you have that procedure?" "Ummmmmm." "Who did your bypass?" "Ummmmmm." "When did those symptoms start?" "Ummmmmmmm." I had to fill out the usual new patient form, and when I came to the question about past surgeries I completely forgot about the bypass. Ha! I had to add it in. I really am just going to start slapping post-it notes all over myself, I swear.
Oh! I finished The Golden Compass. Go, me :) While I didn't completely buy all of the characters - specifically the parents - I loved Lyra. Loved how she was written - a truly unique girl, especially as the main character. Loved the daemons and want one of my own. Although Pixel is a suitable substitute :) Tomorrow I start The Subtle Knife. Go, me II.
