6 October 2007 22:59Thunderstorms have been rolling through all night, bringing with them intermittent power outages. The last one went on for several hours. I hear more thunder rumbling out there, so we'll probably go black again in a little while.
Had a lovely day with
malterre, mostly sitting and chatting. We went to the little farmers' market so she could buy some maple tarts from the Mennonite ladies, but while there were tarts, none were maple. We fought our way through the massive crowds at the big farmers' market, but none were to be had there, either. We finally tracked them down right around the corner from where we live. A goodwife at one of the small farms has a tiny little shed from which she sells her homemade goodies, and lo and behold: maple tarts.
I overdid the sun this morning, so the afternoon was a mix of fatigue and joint pain, but it eased up after dark. Just in time for all of the blackouts :) So we sat at the table in the glow of candlelight and munched on pumpkin cheesecake and schmoozed. Just as we headed back to our separate rooms to call it a night, the lights came back on. Great timing, actually.
At least the storms have lowered the temperatures. The humidity is still high, but the damnable heat has abated. Hopefully that will be the last of the very high temps until next summer. Of course if Nature were to provide us with a warmer than normal winter, I wouldn't complain too loudly. Heh.
In news of great import only to
budclare and me, I was overjoyed to find out that CTV will in fact be showing the new season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Psyched! I am so psyched :) Tomorrow at some point; I'll have to go browsing through the schedules to find out exactly when, but I am so there.
I've just finished watching Shakespeare in Love for the umpteenth time. I never tire of that movie, and it's one of my favorite soundtracks, too. They've been showing the trailer for the new Elizabeth I movie, and I think I may actually brave the movie theater to see it when it comes out. Hey,
sffan - wanna have a movie date?
But now I should post this before we lose power again. Ah, life in the sticks.
