Why has no one on my flist been going gaga all over this show? OK, let me be the first. I admit that I haven't watched the actual show yet, but I'd been hearing approving whispers about it. I watched the season retrospective tonight that they showed to prep for the new season, and I gotta say I am going to be all over it. What a cast! Great writing, too. I may have found my new fandom.

The girls have gone. It was a great visit, and I miss them all already. We spent hours just sitting around the dining room table talking, which truly is one of my favorite things to do. I love good conversation, the kind that flows effortlessly from banter to serious discussion and back again. I love the company of intelligent, articulate women, and we had a roomful today. Which isn't to say that the goofiness didn't erupt with great frequency because . . . fangirls. Helloooooo.
And speaking of fangirls,
sparky77 brought her Psych DVDs and indoctrinated us into the club. It's a weird show, and I really dislike the main character, but I just love everyone else in it. Dule Hill is wonderful, as is Corbin Bernson. Hell, all of the supporting cast is first rate. Too bad the main character is such a jerk. I only saw three episodes, but one of them, happily, was the one set at a scifi con. George Takei had a cameo. G Dawg. Hee.
After the bad day yesterday, Dar prescribed a new med regimen last night. I slept for 10 hours straight which is unheard of for me. Even before the onset of the joint and muscle pain I slept only 6-7 hours a night. I was pretty drugged most of the day, too, but it was worth it to get that much sleep. I'll be doing half of what I took last night, and we'll see how that goes.
The neighbors had a barbecue/picnic today as they do most weekends. Their kids frequently come over to play with the kittens or check out the alpacas, and they'll bring any friends that are visiting. Their youngest daughter, Allie (8), has been told several times before not to play around the pond, but today she and her friend were down there throwing rocks in the pond anyway. All of the Canadians passed them on the way back from the barn but didn't want to say anything even though both Dar and Mark didn't want them playing there. Yeah, they left it to the American to go out there and shoo the kids away. Because we're mean and crotchety and it's expected of us or something. I'm thinking of carrying a toy gun and wearing a "Make My Day" t-shirt just to complete the stereotype :)
And now it's time to start the process of going to bed. Yeah, that's right - it's a process. I remember when all it involved was just rolling over and falling asleep. Ah, the good ol' days.
