Better news!
27 August 2007 20:14OK, they just called from Guelph. Both CG and the cria are fine. The local vets sent everyone off in a panic saying that they had to get to Guelph or CG would bleed to death. Fortunately they were way off base. There is one mysterious thing, and that is that they can't find an opening in her cervix. Now that sounds like a big deal to me, but apparently the vets there aren't worried as much as they are confused, so they're keeping her overnight just to keep an eye on things. She's in a stall next to another alpaca, so that's very good, because kept alone in a strange environment like that could actually kill her if she were already over-stressed.
Meanwhile Hannibal is really unhappy, because he saw us leading away one of his girls. He is one really ticked off herd sire, let me tell you, pacing the fence line like a maniac. He did take a break for some fresh hay when I brought it out to him, so I think he'll calm down in a little while.
Anyway, Dar and Mark are on their way home, and they'll have all the details for you.
What a freakin' day.
Thank you guys for all the concern and good wishes. You all rock!
