Crappy day

I woke up around 4AM (and I see several others on my flist had bad nights, too) because there was a lot of door slamming going on. Don't know who, don't care who. About 5 minutes later got hit with a horrendous headache. I thought maybe I could sleep it off, but I ended up getting out of bed around 5 and taking something for it. Which took the edge off, but that was about it. The stupid thing's been with me most of the day. [livejournal.com profile] darlong is having a bad time with headaches, too, because of the big weather system that will. not. leave.

Went out to do the morning alpaca routine and discovered that they hadn't eaten much of their hay. I'm not sure if it was because the fierce winds were spooking them, or if the new hay bag was putting them off. Probably a combination. Anyway, got them some more hay which they fell on ravenously. Huh. Came back, cleaned up the kitchen a bit; Dar was feeling a little better so we ran into town to do some errands. Still with the headaches. Nasty, nasty, bitterly cold, punishing winds out there. I had to put gas in the car, and I just wanted to cry as I stood there getting cut by the wind.

Came home. Putzed around. Fell asleep for about 90 minutes. Did the alpacas again and then piled back in the car and drove Maddie down past Hamilton (90 minutes away) so she could meet her dad and go see Rent. This was at rush hour on the 401 and the QEW. Which will mean nothing to anyone not familiar with those roads. More headache, now with added nasal congestion and drip deluge which started my asthma twitching. Dar and I ducked into Indigo (like Borders in the States) and got some coffee, did some browsing while we waited for the worst of the rush hour traffic to subside. Dar bought a CD of Leonard Cohen in concert which we listened to on the way home. You know, I usually dislike CDs of concerts, but this was very good. The audience applause wasn't as distracting as it usually is on those kind of CDs, and I really liked Cohen's arrangements of the songs he chose. Plus his band and his backup singers kicked some serious butt.

Made it home by 7:50PM which gave me enough time to nuke a frozen dinner and settle in for Drive. I was weepy and tired and achey, so I watched it in my room rather than out in the living room with Dar and Mark. Gotta say that it cheered me up considerably, even given that the fucking headache came back.

I'm having a terrible time swallowing pills today. It's never really easy for me and never has been, but some days it's just about impossible - like now. I wish I could keep a supply of liquid medicines on hand, but they're kind of hard to come by up here.

And now I can't sleep. I have one Imovane left. In pill form. It's looking huge. I'm all weepy again.

Bitch. Moan. Complain.

Floods. Wind. Pain. Tears. Angst. That terrible shooting in VA. I expect to see the Four Horsemen racing down the road.

Better days, eh.

1) We spent a week running around prepping for the show...then after 4 or 5 hours spent a long crazy day in a cool damp place...we are weary and worn. And we don't bounce back the way we did before we turned 30. : ) When we are tired the first thing that gets screwed up is the swallowing thing. It will come back. We will come back.

2) We listened to 90 minutes of Cohen...and you wonder why you are weepy? : )

I'm already halfway through my bottle of liquid Tylenol, and that's taking half doses. Eep. I wonder if they sell it in bigger bottles?

I think that all medicine should be available in liquid form. Is it my fault that my sense of self-preservation makes it difficult for me to swallow things without chewing them first? I think not.
